Are you new to social networking? Knowledge Safari is considered new to the social media/networking world but I am not new to it myself. I have been reading blogs for years, actively participate in various social networks and have had very positive experiences!
I know that some of you are new to social media and have come here seeking information about a recent diagnosis, this is great! The Internet and it's various sites are quite useful in gathering information. Social media is an excellent way to connect with others. Here are some tips to get you started.
1.) Join a social network. They are usually a free resource like Knowledge Safari. We bring people together who are navigating a similar path through special needs. Here you will feel instantly part of a group and no longer alone. You can ask questions, meet friends and help others along the way.
2.) Read blogs! Once you find one that you like - they will typically have a sidebar listing of other blogs that the writer likes and you might too! Make sure to comment - even if it is just to say "great post" that is how you can start interacting with others.
3.) Start your own blog! I think that blogger is the easiest way to enter the world of blogging - it is very simple and it guides you step by step. Once you have your own blog you can then leave the name of your blog within your comment or on your signature and that is how you start to get readers.
4.) Try Twitter! You can find us at www.twitter.com/knowledgesafari or @KnowledgeSafari. Twitter has a great community of people and special needs of all types are well represented.
If you have any questions about social networking, feel free to leave us a comment or send an email to blog@knowledgesafari.com
