EasyStand

I was about to write a post about EasyStand and in doing some research found that my friend Joan Celebi, of the SpecialNeedsParentCoach.com had already written one! She did it so well, I thought I should simply repost it here!

The EasyStand Makes Standing Easy and Fun - for Kids and Adults!

If your child uses a wheelchair, this website is a must-see!

The EasyStand helps wheelchair users go from a sitting to a standing position with ease. You can see one model in motion here:

I love this website because it offers so much more than simple product information. This website is friendly, supportive, encouraging, and welcoming. It's packed with useful, in-depth information and resources. I learned so much as I explored the site!

Also at the EasyStand website, there are a number of research studies documenting the medical benefits of standing programs for a child’s long-term health. "Besides the medical benefits," the website goes on to say, "children have also experienced enhanced social development & peer interaction while standing. Therapists and teachers have noticed increased alertness, vocalization and responsiveness. Parents have observed how activities of daily living have increased, and kids like how standing stimulates play!"

The stander is custom fit to each individual - and it has a tray, which comes in handy for all kinds of activities.

Of course, anyone considering a standing program should consult with their physician and medical team. If you're exploring the option of a stander for your son or daughter, the EasyStand website is the place to start for information, ideas, and a warm, positive, devoted staff - eager to help and ready to answer any and all of your questions. Check it out even if your child does not use a wheelchair - this is inspiring stuff!
