AWARDING YOU A GOLD MEDAL!

As I watched the Olympics these past couple of weeks...I found myself marveling at the commitment that these athletes have to their sport and to themselves. The hours and hours of preparation and practice that it takes to get to this elite level is amazing.

Then I think of the kids who have special needs and what an effort it is to do various tasks that many of us take for granted.

- Conveying emotion

- Walking

- Sitting Up

- Feeding themselves

- Attending school

- Socializing

The list goes on and on and then there are the parents - who have an Olympic size journey to navigate - which starts at the moment of diagnosis.

Just take a look at any of the blogs that we follow to the right of this post and you will see a glimpse into the lives of some families who have children with special needs. Some days are harder than others and their children are the light of their lives, but it is not easy.

So for you parents out there who are in the race everyday - the race to make sure that your kids are thriving - we award you a Gold Medal! You deserve it!
