Ten Quotes to See You Through the School Year

One of the things I like to do when I have a few spare minutes is look through books of quotes. Sometimes I find a quote that really resonates with life as a mom or dad of a child with special needs, and I add it to my "special needs quote collection." Here are some that I thought were particularly fitting for the start of a new school year, and I wanted to pass them along to you. Teachers and other professionals might like these too. Enjoy!

"In the struggle between the stone and the water, in time, the water wins." -- Chinese Proverb

"Better to complete a small task well, than to do much imperfectly." -- Plato

"'Failure' just means that you haven’t succeeded yet." -- Robert Schuler

"I not only use all the brains that I have, but all that I can borrow." -- Woodrow Wilson

"When everything goes against you, and it seems you cannot hold on for a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the time and place that the tide will turn." -- Harriet Beecher Stowe

"To believe in the things you can see and touch is no belief at all; but to believe in the unseen is a triumph and a blessing." -- Abraham Lincoln

"He has achieved success who has worked well, laughed often, and loved much." -- Elbert Hubbard

"Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear." -- Ambrose Redmoon

"One may walk over the highest mountain one step at a time." -- John Wanamaker

"Do not fear the winds of adversity. Remember: A kite rises against the wind rather than with it." -- Unknown

That last one about the kite is my new favorite. May the "kites" fly in your family this school year!
